LEARN THE ART OF SCREEN PRINTING ONTO FABRIC WITH JOANNA SLOAN
Drawing on inspiration from The Old Rectory garden I will teach you how to create a one colour screen-print using the paper cut stencil method. This is a very open, low-tech approach but with strong designer possibilities. No chemicals, no photo emulsion but plenty of thought with an emphasis on bold and elemental design.
Participants will learn the principals of screen printing through demonstration and a hands-on experience of pulling their own designed print. You will leave with knowledge, a hands on experience and your own printed work onto fabric.
The fee for this workshop includes
2 x 60cm square panels of Irish linen OR 2 cotton tea towels and 1 tote bag, use of all studio materials, inks and light refreshments.
This workshop is aimed at all levels and abilities.
If you are interested in organising a 'party of friends' be-spoke workshop please let me know. I would be delighted to try and accommodate you for this. It could be a screen-printing workshop for paper, t-shirts or greeting cards! Max 5 participants.
The studio is set in the courtyard of The Old Rectory. I would be delighted if you also enjoyed my garden whilst you're on the workshop.

'Joanna is one of Ireland's Designers and Craft experts who has a selfless attitude to passing on their knowledge and experiences to others who show any interest in their passion. Joanna has a beautiful studio in the lovely surroundings of her home in Wicklow. (Check out her beautiful accommodation too!) . If you have any wish to learn the art of screen printing you need go no further than Joanna's studio. She has extensive knowledge and experience which she has no hesitation in sharing. Relevant information on supplies, the where, how and what to buy were passed on while trying out the process. I came home with beautiful examples of my first attempts to screen print as a memento. I have no hesitation in suggesting that anyone might enjoy this experience.' - Susan
