LEARN THE ART OF SCREEN PRINTING WITH JOANNA SLOAN
Drawing on inspiration from the the Old Rectory garden Joanna will teach you how to create a one colour screen-print using the paper cut-out method.
Participants will learn the principals of screen printing through demonstration and a hands-on experience of pulling their own designed print. Don't worry if you get 'designers block' there are plenty of template prints in the studio that you can use!
Your designed print can be onto a set of 4 cotton napkins, 2 cotton tea-towels or a square panel of linen, suitable to make your own cushion with, or to use as a piece of art. All of the inks that you use will be water based and all fabric is 100% cotton or linen. Participants will take home the skills to continue printing at their own kitchen table.
Your workshops will include all materials and a walk around the garden!
Under current Covid-19 distancing recommendations liquid refreshments are supplied but please do bring your own mug.
All social distancing recommendations will be undertaken in and outside of the studio. It is a large high-ceilinged space. Maximum number of students will be 3 on any given course to cater for social distancing.

'Joanna is one of Ireland's Designers and Craft experts who has a selfless attitude to passing on their knowledge and experiences to others who show any interest in their passion. Joanna has a beautiful studio in the lovely surroundings of her home in Wicklow. (Check out her beautiful accommodation too!) . If you have any wish to learn the art of screen printing you need go no further than Joanna's studio. She has extensive knowledge and experience which she has no hesitation in sharing. Relevant information on supplies, the where, how and what to buy were passed on while trying out the process. I came home with beautiful examples of my first attempts to screen print as a memento. I have no hesitation in suggesting that anyone might enjoy this experience.' - Susan
